Reverse Rev-Limiter Bypass for RinconApril 2/06 Written by Greg The Honda Rincon has a reverse rev limiter, which limits your speed in reverse. Sometimes when you are stuck, you need to spin the tires in reverse to get out, but the limiter prevents you from doing so. This mod will allow you bypass the reverse rev limiter for the 2003-2005 models. It has not been tested on 2006 models. 1.) Mount an SPDT switch in a convenient location. 2.) Locate the White 3-pin connector for the gear-position switch, across from the carb. 3.) Unplug the connector. You will be working with the male side (goes to the transmission). 4.) Cut the Grey wire, leaving enough wire at the connector side to work with. 5.) Attach the Grey wire from the connector side to the center pole of the switch. 6.) Attach the Grey wire from the harness side to one side of the switch. 7.) Attach the other side of the switch to the Light-Blue/White wire (tap in to the wire; do not cut it). ![]() ![]() That's it. When the Grey wire is attached to the Light-Blue/White wire, your rev limiter is bypassed. For safety reasons, keep the switch set to the normal position unless you require the bypass. Note: Your gear indicator will display "D" instead of "R" while the limiter is bypassed. Notes• Use a waterproof switch. • Do not use Scotchlock connectors to splice into your wiring harness, as they are prone to failure due to vibration. Solder and heat-shrink your connections and you will have no problems. • Use a grounded-tip soldering iron and resin-core solder. Do not use a soldering gun and acid-core solder.
