150 Mile House to Spokin Lake150 Mile House areaOctober 5/08 Written and photographed by Steve We had a total of 11 people on 10 quads + 1 RZR side by side on a trip we made from 150 Mile House - Eagle Way Rd to Spokin Lake. The trip started at about 10am. It took 2 hours with a few people getting slightly stuck in a nice mud hole to get to the north end of Spokin Lake. The trip, so far, was on very nice trails; mostly in bush. We crossed over a fairly deep creek and went farther to find a fence that we could not get around. We saw a friendly person out walking her dogs who said she thought there was a way around but we could not find it. We came back aways on the same trail and tried a different approach. We crossed the power line, which goes much farther south past 100 Mile House and North to Prince George, (other trips for different days.) We went through some more logging areas. Saw a big black cloud heading towards where we were headed, so decided it would be a good time to break for lunch. We made a nice little fire, ate steaks, smokies and hot dogs. It did end up raining and hailing for a few minutes, but the fire helped us all stay warm. After lunch the sun came out again. So, after dousing our fire, off we went again. We followed more old logging trails and climbed a fun hilly area that had a couple blown-down trees. We used our chainsaw to open up the trail and continued on. A freshly cut logging area hid the trail we were looking for. So, after searching for a few minutes, we once again found our trail. We continued on to the south end of Spokin Lake. Once there it was about 4pm, so we decided it was time to head home before dark. We followed trails and old logging roads to make our way home. We saw 6 deer and 1 moose. The rating for this trip would be 3-4 with easy ways around any challenging areas. There were a few side hills with a few logs across the trails to jump over and some rocky, bumpy areas which slowed us down a bit. All machines were 4 wheel drive, but a 2 wheel drive would make it across most areas except maybe creek crossings. Buddies and rope would help if needed. We arrived back at our starting point at 5:30pm. Everyone said they had a blast and we are trying to do more group rides in the future maybe once a month or so. If anyone would like any details or would like to join in on any rides, feel free to PM or email Steve via Quads.ca.
