Synchronized Swimming

Herrling Island

October 2/05

Photos by Paul Mitchell and Polecat

Some of the Quads.ca gang headed to Herrling Island for a day of quadding in the rain. "Island" means the land mass is surrounded by water; sometimes it's high and sometimes it's low. And sometimes it's deeper than it looks, as two of our intrepid explorers found out.

Ozark Girl managed to find a depression during a water crossing; her 2wd Ozark got in deep over it's (cylinder) head and she had to get strapped out. Apparently the water was cold.

Not to be outdone, Polecat managed to drop his Grizzly into a deceptive-looking sinkhole; only the handlebars were showing. Apparently it didn't look that deep.

After getting serviced, the quads are doing fine. Did our two riders learn anything from this little adventure? Probably not!
