Hemlock LoopHarrison areaMarch 1/05 Written by Paul Mitchell Photos by Paul Mitchell, Kpal, and Singleton. The day started with LMATV Club members and guest riders arriving at the Chehalis parking lot at 8:30 am. Unloading was well under way, when Singleton showed up and caught everyone's attention with his skycrane. We had a short meeting with Det_comd explaining that we were going to try to find a circle route starting from behind the Hemlock Ski Area, for the Labor Day Poker Ride that the LMATV Club is hosting. We headed out in two groups to the South Chehalis campground trail, and the took the right fork up towards Hemlock Mountain. John was in the lead with his GPS, and we tried several side trails that all ended in turn-arounds. We continued up and took the trail that Bambam, Canucklehead, Matt, and I tried earlier but had gotten turned back by snow. This time with the warm, sunny weather, we were able to get through to the last fork before the Hemlock Ski Area. The trail in had a couple of challenging spots, and will get worked-on for safety reasons. After meeting the other group for lunch, some more riders showed up and we had about 20 machines. We carried on down to complete the circle; a couple more places that needed work made the ride an adventure. After a short break at the bottom, John wanted to explore another side trail so we headed back up once more and did the whole loop again, with everyone getting another shot at the washouts and rockcrawls. We got back to the trucks about 4pm with everyone safe and no broken machines. With the weather clear and warm, it was a perfect day.
