Not content with last week's ride at Chehalis, Paul Mitchell sets up another ride.

The following have been extracted from forum posts, with some editing for spelling. The grammar and writing style have mostly been left intact, as it's better read that way. :)

I just wanted to say thanks to the group for an awesome day at Chehalis; this was my son's first ride with the group and he had an awesome time. Talked about the trip all the way home, got a little scared when his old man (ME ) was trying to get through that soft snow but it turned out the little bugger was right ("Turn Around DAD before you really get stuck"). Yes, the Kodiak beat the Grizzly through that soft snow today, but I want a rematch... my claws must be longer, that's why I sunk... yeah, yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it . Nice to meet all of you; very helpful on the trails and I felt very comfortable, even when things were getting a little hairy. But the good thing today was no accidents or repairs needed after the ride, so the wife will let me out again soon... ha ha ha ha. We'll have to do that same trip when it warms up more; I'm sure we'll get alot higher... Damn snow.

Okay. He is not going to fess up; I'm going to rat on him. LarryJJ, Paul T., Kodiak Pete, and yours truly were coming back down the Statlu trail, and Kodiak Pete and I had gotten out front and were waiting at the main road. LarryJJ had pulled over and was waiting for Paul T. to catch up. Where he had chosen to stop, a truck had slid sideways in the wet weather and had created a little berm about 12 inches high and angling off the road, and which was now a frozen curb. When Paul T. came into view, LarryJJ gave it some throttle and his front tire hooked the berm and threw him sideways off the trail, with the quad landing on top of him. The quad box protected him, and Paul T. was there in two seconds to get the quad off. Minor damage to the quad and no injuries, but he might be a little sore today.

Was sitting on the quad at the side of the road. Engine was off. Waiting for Paul T. to catch up. He was ten miles in the rear somewhere. Finally saw him coming way back in the distance. Must have had his grandma with him, but I could not see her - that's how slow he was coming. So I started up my trusty steed and put her into gear, gave it a little encouragement by the way of the throttle. And then it happened. There was a frozen hunk of ground directly in front of the right wheel. Forced the steering to the right and over the bank we went in a beautiful 360-degree flip - side ways and over with me making certain I landed under to ensure there was no damage to my quad. Well Paul T. and me, we gets right down to business and rights that quad back up on it's four wheels. It's facing up the embankment so I start it up and give it some gas, oh so gently ( you know how careful I am ). Well, it's not going anywhere. So we give it a good throttle shot and up it lunges... almost to the top of the embankment to the road. Wow... I'm going to make it. OH NO !!! It flips backwards... front end up and over top of me and lands on me with the quad up side down. (you know me - man of steel). Not a problem. Out from underneath I crawl. Paul T. and I rights that quad back up on it's wheels and I decide to back it up the side of the mountain. Straight up at an eighty-degree angle to the road. Paul T. and me were doing pretty good too. When along comes the cavalry, Kodiak Pete and Paul Mitchell. Well I decides, I guess I should be considerate, after all they came all the way back to take pictures of Paul T. and me in action. So I graciously let Paul Mitchell take his photos while Kodiak Pete gently pulls my steed (quad) up the last twenty feet to the road. Some damage at the front lights, the left handle bar, the left brake lever, and the indicator light that tells you that your lights are on no longer functions. Also a damaged inside fender-well liner. Like a true trooper, the quad fires up and we continue having fun. Have fun and take it as it comes. Of course, you don't tell the wife.
Regards, Larry

Note from Greg: Larry, glad to hear you weren't seriously injured during your two rolls. Let me take this opportunity to suggest that you purchase a chest protector!
